SMS Notification Service

Potter County, Texas uses automated SMS text messaging to communicate important jury service information to residents selected for jury duty. By providing your mobile phone number through the secure Potter County Juror Portal and opting in to SMS notifications, you consent to receive automated text messages regarding your jury qualification, reporting instructions, scheduling updates, deferral or excusal decisions, and other jury-related matters.

Message frequency varies. You may receive up to approximately 10 messages per month during an active service period. Standard message and data rates may apply. Please contact your wireless carrier for details about your text messaging plan.


How We Use Your Information

Your mobile phone number and personal information collected through the Juror Portal will be used solely for jury-related communication and official court business. Specifically:

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Your mobile number and opt-in data will never be sold, rented, or traded to any third party. Your information may be shared with our SMS messaging service provider (Twilio Inc.) solely for the purpose of delivering jury service notifications on behalf of Potter County, Texas. This sharing is limited to what is necessary to operate the notification service and does not permit the service provider to use your information for any other purpose.

Consent and Opt-In

Consent to receive SMS messages is obtained when you provide your mobile phone number in the Juror Portal and select SMS as a notification preference. Your consent applies only to the specific mobile number you provide and is limited to jury service communications from Potter County, Texas.

Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of jury service. If you choose not to opt in, you remain responsible for monitoring your Juror Portal account or contacting the court directly for updates.

  • Log in to the Juror Portal and disable SMS notifications in your account settings.

Please note: Opting out of SMS notifications does not affect your legal obligation to respond to a jury summons or report for jury duty.

Data Retention

Your mobile phone number and associated opt-in records are retained for the duration of your jury service term and for such period thereafter as required by applicable Texas law and Potter County records retention schedules. Once your information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or de-identified in accordance with court records policies.

This SMS program is supported on all major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Potter County, Texas is not responsible for incomplete, lost, or misdirected messages resulting from technical issues with your wireless carrier or device.


Updates to This Policy

Potter County, Texas reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect changes in law, court operations, or messaging practices. Material changes will be posted to this page. Continued use of the Juror Portal after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
